Spring Musical 2021
The John Carroll School's award-winning Theatre Department is proud to present
May 21 & 22 - 7:00 p.m.
May 22 & 23 - 2:00 p.m.
Director/Choreographer - Mr. Larry Hensley | Producer/Music Director - Mrs. Julie Parrish
Winner of Tony and Drama Desk Awards, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" has charmed audiences across the country with its wit and humor. An eclectic group of six students vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The tweens spell their way through a series of “interesting” words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter……one speller leaves as champion. A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is a delightful den of comedic genius.
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance material are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com
Important Announcements Regarding Your Safety
As we plan for a return to live theatre events, we have developed plans to welcome you back within the guidelines for safe practices recommended by the CDC and Maryland Department of Health, and in compliance with The John Carroll School’s requirements for school and public safety. Like you, we are eager to return to the theatre! And we will take every precaution to keep our artists, volunteers, staff, and of course, you, our audience safe.
Safety Guidelines
Masks Required Indoors - Because we care about your health, masks are required for guests as well as volunteers, staff, cast and crew throughout the venue. Masks must be worn at all times regardless of vaccination status.
- Masks must cover your nose and mouth and fit snugly around your face and chin.
- Neck gaiters, open-chin bandanas and masks with vents or exhalation valves are not acceptable at this time.
- Plastic face shields may not substitute for a cloth mask.
Health Screenings – All staff, volunteers, cast and crew will have to complete a health pre-screening including a temperature check prior to arriving on campus. Anyone who has a fever or symptoms will not be allowed to remain on campus. Audience members will be subject to temperature screenings upon entering the campus. Any patron turned away due to fever or symptoms, will be offered a full refund for unused tickets.
Food & Drinks – Food or beverages are not permitted inside the theatre or the theatre lobby.
Social Distancing
Lobby and Public Spaces – Please remember to maintain distance before, during and after the show. Follow the directional signs and the reminders posted throughout the building for guidance.
Socially Distanced Seating – Our Theatre is currently seating at a maximum capacity of 100. All available seating is socially-distanced and assigned at the time that tickets are purchased. Audience members are asked not to tamper with taped-off seating and should sit only in your assigned purchased seats even if you are in attendance with other members of the same household.
Limiting physical contact
Cashless Transactions – Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets through our ticketing website prior to arriving for the show. Tickets will be sold at the door if seating remains available. Patrons are encouraged to use credit or debit cards to reduce contact, though cash will still be accepted and may be used to purchase tickets. **Tickets are $18 online and $20 at the door.**
Hand Sanitizer – Take advantage of the sanitizing stations throughout the venue, especially at the entrances of the building and the auditorium.
Welcoming You Safely
In addition to these practices while audiences are in the venues with us, staff and volunteers work between and before performances to keep the theatre safe.
- When possible, doors will be propped open to minimize physical contact by multiple individuals.
- All “high-touch” surfaces—such as chair arms and backs, doors, and other surfaces—will be cleaned and sanitized between performances.
- Restrooms will be made available and will be deep cleaned and sanitized between performances.
